RACE DETAILS

The “UTH25 – Trail Run” starts – like the UTH5 – with a flat but steadily climbing section into the idyllic Käsetal valley. After about 3 kilometers, the route continues on asphalt up towards Heersberg, where the first fantastic trails await you.

Passing the Muliweg memorial stone, you reach the highest point of the route: the 964m high Heersberg. From here, the scenic meadow trail leads directly along the edge of the escarpment to Schalksburg ruins and further down into the Wannental valley.

A short, sharp climb up the infamous Strava segment “Ankle Breaker” takes you to the Böllat viewpoint – one of the highlights of the route. The first aid station is not far away and is also the first cut-off point. After a quick refuel, a flat section follows before the longest downhill of the route to Zillhausen awaits you. Leaving Zillhausen and onto the gravel roads, you can really pick up speed after a short uphill section.

At kilometer 17, one of the steepest climbs awaits you: the ascent to the Schalksburg ruins. Once at the top, a short trail loop over the mountain awaits you before the descent to the second aid station and the second cut-off point.

The next highlight is the rocky landscape – initially flowing, then technically demanding downhill. Full concentration is required here! Afterwards, the trail leads you to the legendary Muliweg, which the 4th Mountain Division once climbed almost daily with their mules.

Once you reach the top, a singletrack trail leads back towards Margrethausen. Shortly before the finish, you’ll meet the final section of the UTH10 and UTH5 routes. Then it’s time for a final sprint downhill through the village – and across the finish line!
