ROUTE
The UTH10 – Gravel is a fast and demanding high-speed loop: it runs exclusively on well-maintained gravel forest tracks and tarmac – a pure gravel race and not a classic trail race! You can safely leave your heavy trail shoes in the car; instead, we recommend lightweight road running shoes with good grip or light shoes with tread for optimum propulsion.
Your race starts at the festival hall in Margrethausen. On fast tarmac, you first charge into the Käsental valley towards the youth campsite before turning sharply right onto the gravel Rohrbachweg. This gently rolling section takes you quickly along the hillside towards Pfeffingen. Immediately after crossing the ski lift, the first big beast of the day awaits you: the Burgfelder Steige – an extremely punchy climb where the strongest runners quickly separate themselves from the field!
Once at the top, your heart will be racing as you continue across a flatter plateau towards Burgfelden. Shortly before entering the village, you turn left and plunge down a steep gravel descent back into the Käsental valley. After this rapid descent, only one motto applies: let your legs fly, pick up the pace and go full throttle back towards the youth campsite!
Once there, you still have to power up one final short climb before turning onto the final descent towards the finish. This section demands your full concentration once again on loose ground before the final metres on tarmac send you charging straight into the cheering crowd.
And then it is time to raise your arms – you have done it!
