ROUTE
The UTH25 – Trail Run starts on a flat but steadily rising section into the idyllic Käsental valley. After around 3 kilometres, you leave the valley floor via a paved section and climb towards the Heersberg, where the first fantastic trails await you.
Passing the historic Muliweg memorial stone, you soon reach the highest point of the entire route: the 964-metre-high Heersberg. From here, a panoramic meadow trail takes you directly along the spectacular edge of the escarpment to the Schalksburg and then down into the Wannental valley.
A short, root-covered trail then takes you across the notorious Strava segment “Gelenkbrecher” and later to the Böllat viewpoint – one of the route’s greatest visual highlights. The first aid station, “VP Burgfelden”, is now not far away. This is also where you pass the first cut-off point. After a quick refuel, a flatter section gives you time to catch your breath before the route’s long and fastest descent takes you down to Zillhausen. Once you have left Zillhausen behind, you can pick up the pace again on the gravel tracks after a short climb.
At kilometre 17, the biggest wall of the day stands in your way: the steep, demanding climb to the Schalksburg ruins. Once at the top, you are rewarded with a short, superb trail loop across the mountain plateau before descending to the second aid station, “VP Steinberg”, and the second cut-off point.
The notorious Felsenmeer awaits as the next highlight – flowing at first, it quickly becomes technically demanding. This section requires your full concentration once again! The route then takes you to the legendary Muliweg, which the 4th Mountain Division once crossed almost daily with its pack animals.
Once at the top, you turn onto the final singletrack back towards Margrethausen. Shortly before the finish, you join the final section shared with the UTH10 and UTH5. Then it is time to dig deep, sprint downhill through the village one last time – and charge into the roaring UTH Area!
